Aston Carnival Saturday 3rd August, 2019

Yes, it’s that time of year again, when we start to get excited about Aston Carnival which has been running since 2005.

This years Carnival will again take place on the first Saturday in August and features a parade and the crowning of our Carnival Queen 2019. The parade starts at 11am at Swallownest J&I School and heads to Lodge Lane Recreation.

A lovely afternoon in honour of a great cause

Earl and Countess of Scarborough's Vintage Garden PartyMaltby Rother Valley Lions were delighted to support the Earl and Countess of Scarborough’s Vintage Garden Party in aid of Support Dogs for autism, epilepsy and disability, SRSB and Rotherham Sight and Sound. A lovely afternoon was had by all and it makes it even better to know that funds raised will go to helping folk in our local communities.

It’s that time again, when our annual Christmas Carol Concert is in sight. Last year it was an absolute success and was enjoyed by everybody that attended. As ever, Anston Male Voice Choir gave a fantastic performance and brought us all into the start of the Christmas festivities.

Lots of lovely raffle prizes were donated for our senior citizens by local businesses too.

Goodbye to one President and Hello to another

New President Dave, Maltby and Rother Valley Lions ClubJohn Rathbone has now handed over the Presidents chain of office to our new President, Dave Parker. Maltby and Rother Valley Lions wish Dave the best of luck in his new role and also Gerry Haywood as Vice President – you can be sure of the support of all the club.

John Rathbone has been the President of MRVL for the last 7 years. His hard work, leadership and commitment to the club has been outstanding and all the members would like to say a big thank you to him for the great job he has done. “Going the extra mile” is a normal occurrence for John and we are sure his good work will continue within the club. We have a club where we have a great time whilst raising money for good causes – John has played a large part in achieving this. Keep up the good work John!

Anston Male Voice Choir are a great group of men who have a great deal of fun singing a variety of songs, performing concerts locally and further afield on occasions. Their objective is to bring pleasure to both themselves and others whilst giving a helping hand to a number of charities. Come along and help to support them.
