Maltby and Rother Valley Lions Club was formed in 1978. Our members come from all walks of life sharing a common goal to help and support others in the community who are less fortunate than ourselves and support various projects and local groups including junior football teams, schools, nurseries, care homes and our annual Lions Fun and Sports day for the disabled.

We raise money throughout the year with our Casino for parties and special events, our Tombola stall and raffles etc. You will see us around the local streets with Santa and his sleigh and outside various local shops with our static sleighs, for two weeks before Christmas, raising money to go back into the local community. We have a committed band of members and volunteer helpers who give up their time, year after year for free come rain, hail, wind and snow.

Why not join us as a member or volunteer helper, raising money for worthwhile causes whilst having fun and sometimes shedding a tear or two!

Thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who donates to us, it is very much appreciated.

If you require any further information please call: Lion Lynn on 07504 326336.

Advent Christmas tree super-raffle!

Can you help us to raffle some of these fabulous Advent Christmas Trees?

This is to raise money for Maltby and Rother Valley Lions. A fun and festive way to support some of the great causes the Lions helps and to show your support for your local community.

And if you are a local school the Lion’s would be very happy to spilt funds raised 50-50 (minus the £35 cost of the tree). We already have a number of local schools and businesses on board and extend a big thank you to all of them for their support.

Please contact us ASAP via Facebook, the website or by calling John Rathbone on 07793 580790 if you would like a tree as the 1st of December is coming up very soon!

Daisy Garforth

Daisy GarforthWe have been involved in helping in a small way to raise funds for her therapy by donating our fee for a casino night at Dawn and Jack Boltons fund raising event on 19th March. Below is an extract from their website Daisy was born in 2010 at Rotherham General Hospital. After serious complications at birth (cord prolapse) Daisy suffered serious brain damage as a result of asphyxiation. When she was 7 months old a diagnosis of Asymmetric bilateral quadriplegic cerebral palsey was made. Daisy’s condition means that her brain cannot communicate properly to her muscles in order for them to move in a correct way, so mainly by physiotherapy we are trying to teach her to be able to sit, move, walk etc in her own way, the best way to understand this is that all brains are made up of motorways which help the brain connect to parts of the body to control them, some of Daisy’s motorways have been damaged so she has to be taught to build smaller ‘B’ roads in order for her to control her actions. Her parents aim is to organise events and raise as much money as possible to enable her to continue therapy at the Bobath Centre, explore other therapies such as extra private speech therapy which is very difficult on the NHS, and also purchase extra equiptment such as wheelchairs and special needs buggy’s to enable Daisy to lead a full and happy life and allow her to reach her full potential in life and to give her the best opportunity at becoming independent. Daisy had her first oxygen therapy session today, what a little star she was really really brave and lasted a whole hour in the chamber, only 39 more sessions to go ❤️?❤️?
